Today's blog is about writing. As many of you know, I am a struggling writer among other things. And for quite a long time Science fiction has been a favorite genre for me to read and write in. But over the last ten years this has become an extremely difficult field to write in due to the fact that science and technology is increasing at such a fast pace that sometimes our imaginations can't advance as fast as silicone valley can create new things.
In the futuristic novel I've been working on for way too long now, I thought, when I started writing it, that it was a cool idea to have several of the main characters have their own laptop computers. How was I to know that Apple would invent the iPad, and now everyone has their own personal electronic notepad of some sort. Guess it's time for a rewrite.
I have a couple science fiction things I'm working on, but it is getting tough. Once I finish them, I think I'll try my hand at some historical fiction, or fantasy work. Elves and faeries are easy to control than technology. And if any one in silicone valley is reading this, could you slow down just a little and give us writers a break.
