Happy 4th of July! As we celebrate America and freedom today I just want to say thank you to the brave men and women who daily put their lives on the line to help keep our country safe and free-- our military. When I was younger I always thought of the military as the older generation, who fought in World War II and Korea and Viet Nam. Then when I was in college some of my friends were in the ROTC and I saw the military as my own generation. But lately I have been encounter a lot of vets who are just kids (in the eyes of this middle aged man). I meet people and they tell me they are just back from serving in Iraq or Afgahnistan (sp) and they look to me like they should just be out having fun with there friends, or studying for a big exam. And all I can do is say "Thank You" and realize that despite what a lot of media may show, there are some youth today who do have focus, and respect and a sense of purpose. And our freedom and safety now rests in the hands of a younger generation.
Today as we celebrate the 4th, please take the time to say a prayer for those you know serving in the military. And pray for those you don't know also, because somewhere there is a friend, a wife, a mother fearing for the safety of their loved one. ...I'm just sayin'
